How did we end up with so many cats?

Cats are like chips, you can't have just one. No but really, I think every cat owner has some story behind how they got their cat. We are truly cat people and are always feeding the strays. So many cats have visited our lives; some stay and some move on. Here are the abbreviated stories of our Fur team:

George

While in college a fellow student found a mama cat and her kittens in a parking lot. She posted on the school forum that she needed to find them homes. When we went to see them only the little boy was left. We instantly fell in love with him, and he with us. The girls would carry him around like the old Looney Tunes episode with Daffy and the Abominable Snowman and so we aptly named him George. You can generally find George wrapped around Jen's neck or head.

Ninja

Some neighborhood kids found a tiny kitten under their dads' car. He told them he was going to send it to the pound, so they embarked on a door-to-door campaign through the neighborhood to find someone to take the kitten. After about half an hour they ended up at our door. When we opened the door the kitten jumped from their arms and disappeared into the house. I told them, "I guess I have a kitten now" and thanked them with some candy. Little did we know that this little kitten has no coordination and falls off of tables and chairs with little to no grace but could beat anyone at hide and seek. As a joke we called her the unstealthy ninja, Ninja for short. She can still hide like there is no tomorrow.

Kiwi

When we arrived to a hotel in Tampa for a family trip we noticed a scrawny little cat in the bushes. We offered him some ham from our lunch and he instantly attached himself to Kaitlyn. The entire weekend he would wait in the bushes by the hotel entrance for her to come out. She declared "if he is here waiting for me when we leave I am taking him home". The morning of our check out he was waiting for her by the door, she scooped him up and off to his forever home he went. When we found him he was so dirty and malnourished his fur felt like a kiwi; hence his name. He is now a fat and happy lap cat who still appreciates a good ham sandwich. Not so fun fact, Kiwi had a gum disease and was missing a good amount of his teeth. His gums were so bad he would hiss and spit out his food when he ate. The vets had to remove all of his teeth and we were so sad because he had the cutest crooked fangs. Now he's fat and happy and gums us while playing.

Luna

Our A/C died one hot summer day and we called a good friend who was an A/C tech for help. His two outside cats had recently had litters and he refused to help unless we took a kitten. Little did we know this little head butting furball was insane. Meet Lunatic, aka Luna; because Nightmare Moon was a mouthful.

Lovey

Lovey started off as a shelter cat that one of the neighbors adopted. When they took in some kittens she started making it known she wasn't happy. They let her outside and she instantly attached herself to us. Lovey was declawed at a young age because she loves to make biscuits and her first owners could not take all of the 'love'.

Cleo

About 6 months after our sweet Maleficent passed our youngest daughter missed having her kitten time. Off to the shelter we went, they had so many kittens! She went from room to room and kept coming back to this sweet little tabby. Little did we know that she was just putting on that sweet and innocent act, this kitten quickly perfected her stink eye and is 100% sassy.

Kon

With the addition of Cleo we felt that it wasn't fair for a kitten to have no one to play with. All of the others are over 9 and they wanted no part in being a teacher or chew toy. We went back to the shelter and found this outgoing little man. He not only is besties with Cleo but he has also warmed up to the others and the dogs, wanting everyone to play.

We are sad to announce the passing of our beloved Lovey. She was one of the sweetest cats whose name was a perfect match. She loved cuddling up in your lap, kneading with her little soft paws and drooling out of pure happiness. I have never met a sweeter cat then her and our hearts are broken. You will never been forgotten my sweet Love.
